  • Additional Information
Clomiphene 100MG is a medication primarily used to treat infertility in women by inducing ovulation. It works by stimulating the release of hormones necessary for ovulation to occur. Clomiphene 100MG belongs to a class of drugs known as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs). It functions by binding to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, which leads to an increase in the secretion of gonadotropins (FSH and LH). These hormones help promote the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries. It is commonly prescribed for women who have irregular or absent ovulation, such as those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Clomiphene is typically taken for five days at the beginning of the menstrual cycle, and ovulation usually occurs 5 to 10 days after the final dose. Common side effects include hot flashes, abdominal discomfort, nausea, and mood swings. In rare cases, it can lead to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancies, or vision disturbances. Women should consult a healthcare provider to determine the appropriate dosage and ensure it is the right supplement for their condition.

Absorption :

Clomiphene is well absorbed after oral administration. The peak plasma concentration is typically reached within 6–10 hours after ingestion. The bioavailability of Clomiphene is not significantly affected by food, so it can be taken with or without meals.

Metabolism :
Clomiphene is metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 enzyme system, particularly by CYP3A4. The metabolites are then excreted primarily in the feces, with a smaller proportion eliminated in the urine.

Half-Life :
The half-life of Clomiphene is relatively long, ranging from 5 to 7 days. This extended half-life allows the drug to continue exerting its effects on ovulation for several days after the final dose.

Excretion :
Clomiphene and its metabolites are excreted through the urine and feces. The drug is not extensively excreted in the breast milk, although caution should still be exercised during breastfeeding.

Common Side Effects :
Some of the most common side effects associated with Clomiphene 100MG include hot flashes, abdominal discomfort or bloating, nausea, breast tenderness, and mood swings. Other mild side effects may include dizziness, headaches, and visual disturbances such as blurred vision or seeing flashes of light. These side effects are often temporary and tend to resolve after completing the treatment cycle.

Serious Side Effects:
In rare cases, Clomiphene can cause more serious side effects, including ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which can lead to painful swollen ovaries, fluid retention, and shortness of breath. Multiple pregnancies, such as twins or triplets, are also a risk due to the stimulation of multiple follicles during ovulation. Other rare but serious side effects include visual disturbances (such as flashes of light or blurred vision), liver toxicity, and abdominal or pelvic pain. Women using Clomiphene should be monitored closely by a healthcare provider for signs of these complications.
